Benefits of Herb Teas: For your Health’s Sake

Keeping up your fluids even in cool weather is important. Herb Teas are an excellent addition to daily fluid intake because they are high in antioxidants, assist electrolyte balancing (to maintain energy levels) and provide non-caffeine hydration.
Perhaps you have herbs or edible plants in your garden or local area that can be used?
Skyezone currently provides 5 herbal teas but here are some basic steps to help you harness the goodness of your own herbs.
How to prepare your Herbal Tea
Herbs are stronger when dried but can also be used freshly picked.
Ratio: Use 1 teaspoon of dried herb -or- 1 tablespoon of fresh herbs.
Using a pot / large cup, steep the herbs in quite hot water (not boiling) and for 5-10 mins.
Add according to your taste if desired: ginger, honey, cider vinegar, cordial… etc.
Tips: A pot with dried herbs can be topped up with water and reused 1-2 times, before refreshing the herbs. Try a small piece of ginger to add zing and extra nutrients!
Drying Herbs
It’s best to let herbs dry slowly (away from direct sunlight) in paper bags, hung in a warm airy place.
A food dehydrator or low oven temperature can also be used. Place the herbs on backing sheets loosely spread about 2cm deep. Once dried place in sealed glass jars and label for storage.
