Botanicals with Chemistry

Jennifer Elwin established Skyezone in the year 2000, she holds a Diploma in Formulation Chemistry, a Bachelor of Education and Diplomas in Teaching and Advanced Early Childhood

"You will find me most days in an apron making batches or in welly boots amongst the herbs, or possibly on the computer researching a new formulation. Herbs are a pleasure to work with, and customer feedback and research both keep me inspired, thank you!"

25 years of herbal wisdom

Sustainable, Adelaide-grown skincare, fusing formulation science & Botanicals

All products in the Skyezone range are home crafted with organically grown botanicals in Adelaide SA. All products are fully biodegradable, ocean friendly and all containers are recyclable. Skyezone operates on renewable solar energy whenever the sun is shining. Our customers are encouraged to re-use or return containers when possible.

In the year 2000, Skyezone in fact began in Strathalbyn SA, on Phyllis Osmond farm, (Jennifer's mother)

"Inspiration to start making my own products came from my mother Phyllis, who passed at 97 years on August 3, 2023. Her qualifications in teaching: English, Science & Latin, combined beautifully with her love of botany. At "Phyll's Pharm" in Strathalbyn, until into her 80s, she used to enjoy making medicinal brews for the family and local community.

We all enjoy being inspired ( thanks Mum) and fortunately we can pass on these skills."

Phyllis Osmond use of herbs and botanical knowledge led Jennifer to research pepper berry - Schinus molle. This versatile and medicinally beneficial plant became instrumental in the development of the unique and ever growing Skyezone range

The Transformation

In 2002 Jennifer began cultivating herb beds at home in Kensington Park. This led to transforming the entire neighbourhood common space into a vibrant, productive and delightful streetscape

Much loved by the local community, Jennifer has expanded local planting beds over the years, proving our local spaces can be more than empty spaces, but healthy, beautiful and productive assets

The Chemistry Evolves

In 2004 Jennifer began distilling herbs for her own essential oil creations. The sheer potency and purity of the oils was captivating! This and led to a whole new formulation process and dramatically expanded the Skyezone range

The ultimate way to bottle pure botanical energy

As steam passes through fresh botanicals, the plant releases its volatile aromatic compounds. Think of it as 'The Spirit of the Plant.' As this vapor cools, it condenses and separates into two treasures: 100% pure Essential Oil - with maximum active botanical compounds, and Hydrosol - pure water imbued with the scent and a smaller degree of botanical compounds.
Both are extensively used in our skincare, keeping the energy flowing!

Working with herbs and essential oils is more than a craft—it’s a way to focus your inner chi and radiate positivity.

Since 2004, I’ve been distilling herbs for their essential oils—the spirit of the plant—for both fragrance and bioavailable medicinal properties. This began during a time when synthetic ingredients dominated the skincare industry. I chose a different path.

By 2019, the tide had turned. Commercial brands began embracing botanicals, reducing nano particles and petroleum-derived ingredients. Scientific research caught up, validating the nutraceutical benefits of many herbs I’ve used for years.

My approach formulating with green chemistry, ensures no hazardous substances are used or created. It’s how I pass on botanical energy to my customers while keeping our plants pesticide-free for our bees.

Master the process

In 2019 Jennifer completed her year long study to obtain her Diploma in Formulation Chemistry, helping to consolidate and expand upon the first 19 years of product development.

Never stop Learning

"For me the initial focus in developing a product lies in its medicinal benefits, then texture & scent factors. Balancing these considerations requires formulation chemistry to create products designed to enhance a person's health & wellbeing."

The Journey Continues

2026 - Skyezone continues to research the chemical properties of plant extracts and natural ingredients for sustainable skin care and more...

Nothing happens in life without the input of those around you. So my thanks to Christie & Mark for their technical skills, input, suggestions, and being willing testers & users of my products. Especially to John for s supporting me in turning our home into a lab! Helping harvest schinus molle, calendula etc., and cutting every leaf label by hand!

Skyezone Natural Skin Care products continue to develop thanks to the enthusiasm of our customers
