Key Ingredients & Benefits
pH 4.90 - 5.10 is right in the sweet spot for scalp comfort, hair manageability, and formula stability.
1. Cuticle Harmony
- Hair cuticles lie flatter at mildly acidic pH, reducing frizz and enhancing shine.
- This range helps seal the cuticle after washing, making hair smoother and easier to detangle.
2. Scalp-Friendly
- The scalp’s natural pH is around 4.5–5.5, so this range supports microbiome balance and reduces risk of irritation.
- Especially helpful for sensitive scalps or those prone to flaking.
3. Conditioner Stability
- Preservatives and botanical actives (like hydrosols or essential oils) remain more stable and effective in this range.
- It also minimizes oxidation and discoloration in plant-rich formulas.
4. Moisture Retention
- Acidic pH helps hair retain moisture by keeping the cuticle closed.
- This supports softness and elasticity—especially important for dry or damaged hair.

Fluoride
Refresh does contain a trace amount of fluoride which is a naturally occurring mineral found in rocks, soil, water, plants, and air. It is widely used in dentistry and public health to strengthen tooth enamel, prevent cavities, and reverse early stages of tooth decay.
