The Vital Role of Moisturising in Aging

The Vital Role of Moisturising in Aging

In creating and developing Skyezone products I've been living a skin care journey for the past 25 years, and it's been quite the adventure.

Our skin evolves over time and while developing skin care products since 2000, I've observed the reality of time vs age. As we age, the significance of regular moisturizing becomes increasingly important for maintaining healthy and youthful looking skin.

What happens to our skin

As skin matures, it produces less oil and collagen, leading to flakiness and fine lines, while sun UV has time to influence cells. Moisturising helps compensate for these natural declines, providing essential hydration and supporting the skin's elasticity.

Beyond cosmetic benefits, maintaining well-hydrated skin is crucial for its overall health, and your personal sense of well-being, which is a key focus for me in 2024. A well moisturized skin barrier defends against external aggressors like pollutants and UV radiation, reducing the risk of damage and premature aging. Additionally, hydrated skin is more resilient, promoting faster healing and recovery from abrasions and rashes.

What to look for in a moisturiser
Humectants, Lipids and Ceramides  - all included in our body butters:

In our 14 Skyezone moisturising products, each incorporates the following 3 key elements in varying percentages, formulated specifically for face or body application.

Humectants,
such as Hyaluronic acid, aloe, glycerin, and propanediol attract and retain water molecules from the surrounding air or deeper skin tissue.

Lipids like beeswax and lanolin improve the skin's softness and suppleness and are excellent for treating dry or chapped skin. The antibacterial properties of beeswax also helps keep the skin’s surface clean.

Ceramides that are found in Jojoba, Rice bran and Wheatgerm oil are a type of lipid, or fat molecule, high in Vitamin E. They play a crucial role in protecting and maintaining the skin's barrier function by locking in moisture. They are most beneficial for those with dry or aging skin.

By nurturing our skin's moisture balance, we can promote a resilient complexion, and safeguard against environmental factors, while promoting our own personal well-being and gracefully navigate the aging process.

Skin Karma is our lotion that includes very little essential oil, in understanding that some people can't handle fragrance, or that their skin is sensitive to the chemistry of essential oils.

Skin sensitivity may vary throughout a person's life. Perhpas due to illness, hormonal changes, or food allergy, and with it, previously quite normal skin may become troublesome.

Behind our products, the concept of sustainability is a major goal for Skyezone. With more herb beds & beehives, expanded work areas, streamlined storage and increased container recycling, we're on the way for a very positive year.
We hope you found this helpful and enjoy your skin care journey.
