Sun Guard is a natural formulation suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Its active ingredient, mineral zinc oxide, works by reflecting or scattering UV light, providing broad-spectrum UVA & UVB protection with SPF30. Lightly scented with pure spearmint essential oil, it’s gentle and refreshing.

What Does SPF Mean?

  • Sun Protection Factor (SPF): Refers to the degree of shielding against UVA & UVB rays.
  • SPF30: Blocks 97% of UV rays.
  • Burn Time Calculation:
    • If your unprotected skin burns in 10 minutes, SPF30 extends that time by 30x.
    • Example: 10 minutes x 30 = 300 minutes before burning occurs.

High Energy Visible (HEV) Blue Light Protection

  • What is HEV Blue Light?
    • Reflected from electronic devices like phones, tablets, and computers.
  • How Sun Guard Protects:
    • Combines botanicals and iron oxide to shield against HEV Blue Light.
    • Iron Oxide Benefits:
      • Provides HEV shielding.
      • Acts as a natural cosmetic tint to reduce "ghosting" and offers a mild concealer effect for blemishes and spots.

How Long Does It Last?

  • Reapply every 2 hours or after swimming if you remain outdoors, regardless of SPF rating.

Sun Guard combines two types of zinc oxide to create a texture suitable for all skin types:

  1. ZinClear™ XP:

    • Pharmaceutical-grade zinc oxide powder.
    • Provides a light, non-greasy finish.
    • Suitable for natural, mineral, and vegan sunscreens.

  2. ZinClear™ XP65 COCO Dispersion:

    • Made from natural or naturally derived agro-ingredients.
    • Offers broad-spectrum UVA & UVB protection.
    • Creates a luscious cream for greater hydration.

Why Use Zinc Oxide?

  • Zinc oxide is the optimal choice for natural, broad-spectrum sun protection.
  • It effectively blocks both UVA and UVB rays without irritating sensitive skin.

Vitamin D & Sun Exposure

  • Why Sunlight is Important:

    • For safe sun exposure, try to bare your arms and legs during early morning or late afternoon.

SPF Protection Levels:

  • SPF 15: Blocks 93% of UVB rays.
  • SPF 30: Blocks 97%.
  • SPF 50: Blocks 98%.
  • SPF 100: Blocks 99.1%.

Making a Sunscreen – Homogenisation Process

  • We use a high-pressure homogenizer to ensure uniformity of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) particles (2-5 microns).

Storage
All products containing essential oils should be stored out of direct sunlight and below < 30deg C. If storing for several weeks or months, store in a cool dark area or refrigerate.
Test First
For all new products applied to your skin, please ensure you check for sensitivity with a patch test on your wrist or forearm, before applying the product to other parts of your body. If you have sensitive skin it's even more important to take this precaution.
Testing
