Aloe Vera
(Aloe barbadensis miller)
The Chemistry: Contains acemannan (a complex polysaccharide), vitamins A, C, and E, and the enzyme bradykinase, which helps reduce excessive inflammation.
- Properties: Potent humectant (moisture-binding), anti-inflammatory, and cooling agent.
- Benefits: Intensely hydrates the skin, accelerates the healing of minor burns and scars, and provides immediate relief for sun-damaged or itchy skin.
- Products: Found in our After Sun Care, Hydrating Serums, and soothing facial moisturizers.
- Safety: Exceptionally gentle for most skin types. If you have a known allergy to plants in the Liliaceae family (like onions or garlic), perform a patch test first.

Calendula
(Calendula officinalis)
The Chemistry: High in triterpenoids (specifically faradiol esters), flavonoids, and carotenoids that stimulate cellular repair and collagen production.
- Properties: Powerful anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antifungal agent.
- Benefits: Accelerates skin repair, calms irritation, and protects against environmental stressors. Ideal for soothing "angry" or damaged skin, rashes, and minor abrasions.
- Products: A must have ingredient in so many of our products from Face to Hand and Body Oils, Wellness and Medicinals.
- Safety: Very mild and safe for all ages. However, those with a known allergy to the Asteraceae (daisy) family should perform a patch test before use.

Chamomile
(Matricaria recutica)
The Chemistry:
Rich in alpha‑bisabolol, bisabolol oxides, and chamazulene — the compound responsible for its iconic deep blue colour when distilled. Also contains apigenin, a gentle antioxidant known for its soothing effects on skin and the nervous system.

Comfrey Root
(Symphytum officinale)
The Chemistry: Contains high levels of allantoin, a compound that increases the water content of the extracellular matrix and promotes rapid cell proliferation.
- Properties: Vulnerary (wound-healing), mucilaginous, and a potent cell stimulant.
- Benefits: Supports the regeneration of skin cells and connective tissue. Historically known as "knit-bone," it is excellent for topical application on bruises, pulled muscles, and minor skin breaks.

- Safety: For external use only. Do not apply to deep or puncture wounds. Avoid prolonged use on broken skin due to the presence of trace pyrrolizidine alkaloids.
